Child Safe Standards professional development

An inclusive, consultative and empowering professional learning workshop around the Victorian Child Safe Standards and how the 2022 changes will strengthen how you continue to improve child safety in your environment

Description

Body Safety Australia are Child Safe Standards specialists.

We are leaders in community consultation, co-design and co-production when it comes to child safety.

The new Victorian Child Safe Standards came into effect on 1 July 2022.

The changes reflect that, in order to keep children and young people safe, we need to listen to them, their families and the communities to which they belong.

This workshop takes participants through reflective and practical approaches for child safe standards implementation around inclusion, consultation, and empowerment.

An Inclusive approach to Child Safety means ensuring that the needs of all children are met.  This can mean creating cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, ensuring that barriers to safe inclusion for children with a disability are addressed or addressing any other issue that makes some children more vulnerable to harm than their peers.

A Consultative approach involves seeking input on Child Safety from children, young people, their families and communities.

Consultative approaches may include co-design or the establishment of an advisory panel.

An Empowering approach to Child Safety means that all people in your organisation feel ownership of development of policies and codes of conduct. Individuals refer to the documents in their decision making and increase their capacity to support others in their safety.
